A schematic model illustrates the interaction of ApxI with LFA-1 and the signaling events affected by ApxI. Porcine LFA-1 (pCD11a/pCD18) serves as a potential receptor for ApxI. The CD18 subunit mediates the decreases in the levels of p-FAKTyr397 and p-AktSern in response to ApxI. Attenuation of FAK and Akt activity contributes to ApxI-induced cell death.
