Seasonal variations and long-term trends in the pH by season for the coastal region of the Sea of Japan and North Pacific. The Demonstration Laboratory (DL) on the coast of the Sea of Japan (a) and Central Laboratory (CL) on the coast of the Pacific Ocean (b). The upper figure shows daily averaged values, where the error bars represent the standard errors. The lower figure shows the long-term trends in the oceanic pH by season. Straight lines show linear trends while sine curves show decadal oscillations. Table 1 summarizes the trend slopes, acidification rates, statistical p-values, and correlation coefficients.
