A map of the observation space diagnostics software available in DART. The CAM6+DART cycling (Fig. 2) creates a time series of binary obs_seq_final files, which have a custom format. They are easily converted to NetCDF using DART’s obs_diag.f90 and obs_seq_to_netcdf.f90 programs. The obs_diag_output.nc file has the time series concatenated into it. The obs_epoch_#.nc files map one-to-one to the obs_seq_final files, and are numbered sequentially. Then a wealth of statistics (Table 8) can be calculated and displayed by DART’s suite of Matlab scripts (.m). The resulting .pdf and .ps pictures are suitable for presentations.
