From: Electromagnetic wave transparency of X mode in strongly magnetized plasma

Spatial variation of \(E_x\) and \(E_y\) for the three cases at different times. Initially, only \(E_y\) (due to laser field) is present in the system. In case (A), laser gets reflected from the plasma boundary without being able to interact with it. On the other hand, laser is able to interact with plasma in case (B) and we observe generation of \(E_x\) in the system. In case (C), medium becomes transparent to laser and laser just passes through the plasma medium unhindered.
