Contour plots of UVC intensity across front and back sides of the face covering. The “front” side faces the wearer’s environment, while the “back” side is in contact with the wearer’s nose and mouth. Areas of highest light intensity are shown in red, while areas of lower light intensity are shown in blue. The “proximal end” of the face covering refers to the top of the mask that sits on the bridge of the nose, and the “distal end” of the face covering refers to the bottom of the mask that is in contact with the neck area.
