Effects of Dapl1 transfection on neutral steroid hormone synthesis in I-10 cells. (A) Effect of Dapl1 transfection on the testicular steroidogenesis gene-expression of mRNA coding for StAR, CYP11A1, CYP17A1, 3β-HSD, and 17β-HSD in I-10 cells. I-10 cells seeded in 6-well plates were transfected with pcDNA3.1-mouse Dapl1 (2 µg/well). For the control, cells were transfected with the empty pcDNA-3.1(−)-hygro vector. Each bar represents the mean ± standard error of the mean (S.E.M.) of 6 samples. (B) Effect of Dapl1 transfection on level of testosterone in I-10 cell culture medium. Each bar represents the mean ± S.E.M. of 8 samples. Significantly different from the control I-10 cells: ***p < 0.001. DAPL1 death-associated protein-like 1, StAR steroidogenic acute regulatory protein, CYP cytochrome P450, 3β-HSD 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, 17β-HSD 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, SRD5A1 steroid 5α-reductase 1, SRD5A2 steroid 5α-reductase 2, PND49 postnatal day 49.
