Change in BII over time plotted against the change in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita for each country. Change was calculated as the log-response ratio of 2012 and 2001 values. A value of zero indicates no change, negative values indicate a decline from 2001 to 2012, and positive values indicate an increase between 2001 and 2012. Note that not all countries have available data on GDP per capita for the years 2001 and 2012 so some countries are excluded from this plot. Colours represent the different regions. The circles are scaled according to the country area.
