Endocytosis of FITC dextran in VE cells. E5.5 embryos were in utero labelled with fluorescent dextran. The embryos were fixed and observed under a confocal microscope. Wild-type and heterozygous embryos could internalise fluorescent dextran (arrows) via endocytosis (a to d, arrows) (n = 15), whereas the fluorescent signals in Atp6v0c mutant embryos (e to h) (n = 3) were under the detection level. Scale bars are indicated in each panel.
