Oocyte volume responses and concomitant changes in the intracellular solute/CPA concentration during exposure to solutions containing different EG concentrations as well as temperatures. Simulations were done using the two-parameter transport model and MATLAB. Panel (A) illustrates the experimental setup used for investigating equine oocyte volume during exposure to various solutions, for deriving membrane permeability parameters used for the simulations depicted in panels (BE). Oocyte volume responses (B,D) and changes in the intracellular solute concentrations (C,E) were modeled during exposure to different EG concentrations at room temperature (B,C; 0.75 mol L−1: green lines, 1.0 mol L−1: blue lines, 1.5 mol L−1: red lines) as well as temperatures in case of 1.5 mol L−1 EG (D,E; 20 °C: red lines, 10 °C: blue lines, 5 °C: green lines).
