The data are presented as the mean ± standard error of the mean (SEM) in healthy, cardiac surgery patients at 2 (H₂), 24 (H₂₄), 48 (H₄₈) hours and systemically infected patients. The data scale was normalized to reflect the relative increase or decrease compared to healthy subjects.
