CBCS Development process. (a–c) shows the artefact removal process where (a) shows regions of oversaturated staining especially near the optic nerve head (b) and the edges of the retina. (c) shows artefacts having been removed to prevent skewing of results due to the oversaturated areas. (d) shows the original image with a zoomed section (e) showing uneven staining. This was greatly improved by the GSAF function with top hat as seen in (f). (g) shows the cell count criteria that were utilised to ensure for a consistent counting method between each observer.
