Summary of the functions of the selected differentially expressed genes. Briefly, THEG, TSSK1B, and ADA1 are involved in spermatocytogenesis, with ADAD1 playing a role in the meiotic and postmeiotic germ cell RNA editing. RIMBP3, CABS1, GTSF1, ADAD1, and THEG are involved in developing different spermatozoa structures. RIMBP3 is involved in manchette formation, for normal sperm morphology, CABS1, ROPN1L, and GTSF1 are involved in flagellum development and normal sperm motility. SPATA20 is involved in acrosome formation and maintains mitochondria function during spermatogenesis, while SPATA20 and TSSK1B are both critical for sperm maturation.
