The direction of dimensional biases differed between humans and monkeys in the delayed matching to sample task. (a) Mean normalised response time is shown for colour- and shape-DMS trials for both primate species. In monkeys, the normalised response time was significantly shorter in shape-DMS trials than in colour-DMS trials. However, in humans, the opposite pattern was observed, with the normalised response time being significantly shorter in colour-DMS trials than in shape-DMS trials. (b) Mean accuracy is shown for colour-DMS and shape-DMS trials. Similar to response time, monkeys and humans displayed opposing biases in their performance, where monkeys' accuracy levels were significantly higher in shape-DMS trials, and humans' accuracy levels were significantly higher in colour-DMS trials.
