From: The human pathogenic 91del7 mutation in SLC34A1 has no effect in mineral homeostasis in mice

Figure 1

Generation of Slc34a1-91del7 mutant mice and effect on mineral balance. (A) Protein sequence comparison of the N-terminal tail of NaPi-IIa in humans and mice: numbers indicate amino acid position, the yellow shaded sequence is deleted in human patients with the SLC34A1 91del7 mutation and asterisks indicate fully conserved amino acids between humans and mice. (B, C) Urinary phosphate/creatinine ratio and fractional excretion of phosphate (FePi), (D, E) plasma levels of phosphate and creatinine. (F) 32Pi uptake and (G) 3H-D-glucose uptake obtained in kidney brush border membrane vesicles (BBMVs). Data are presented as Na+-dependent (first three columns) and Na+-independent (last three columns) values. All parameters were measured in samples from 12 weeks old wild type (WT), heterozygous (Het) and homozygous (Hom) 91del7 mice fed standard diet. Data are presented as single values together with mean ± SEM (n = 7–8 per group). Significance was tested by one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni correction.
