Burst profiles of the SC population in the network in response to the external input current with varying temporal properties (β, I0), selected such that the total number of input spikes sent to the SC motor map decreased with increasing β (see Fig. 2c,d). The SC peak firing rate increases with β and reaches a plateau around the default. The total number of SC spikes remained constant (see also Fig. 2g,h, purple data).
