From: Song complexity is maintained during inter-population cultural transmission of humpback whale songs
Complexity scores were calculated for each song type. Scores were calculated for each population using three variables at the song level (average total units, average unique units, average song length) and three variables at the theme level (average number of themes, average phrase length, average theme complexity).
