Grade 0

Normal histological structure of colonic mucosa, submucosa and T.muscularis with no inflammatory cell infiltration

Grade1

Infiltration of the colonic mucosa and submucosa with Inflammatory cells

Grade 2

Infiltration of the colonic mucosa, submucosa and T.muscularis (trans-mural) with Inflammatory cells

Grade 3

Focal ulceration with trans-mural inflammation

Grade 4

Multiple large ulcers with trans-mural inflammation

Grade 5

Extensive ulcerations with complete necrosis of the colonic mucosa and intense trans-mural inflammation
