  1. The six symptom groups assessed were: upper limb weakness, upper limb sensory disturbance, trunk sensory disturbance, lower limb sensory disturbance, gait disturbance, exaggerated deep tendon reflex. Cases were classed as mild if they suffered from 3 or less symptom groups, and severe if they suffered 4 or more symptom groups.
