The figure shows how ‘genetic quality’ varies with a ‘Mutator’ and with sexual selection by female choice. Genetic quality was calculated as given in Fig. 2. The mutator was a multiplier of the default mutation rates. Female choice (Fch) was between 2, 5 and 10 males. Plotted are the means and standard errors computed across 10 simulations for each set of parameters, taken at generation 1000. Other parameters were as in Fig. 2.
