In both charts, the values span a small range, meaning that moving the cannulae influences the ECMO efficacy by less than \({2}\,\%\), hardly compensating the risk of generating an infection. On the other hand, the worst \(5\,\hbox {L}/\hbox {min}\) configuration performs much better than the best 3 L/min one, indicating that increasing the ECMO flow offers the most benefit.
