Dose response experiment. E. coli BL21 (DE3) cells containing pET42b-HGD plasmid and the EV control were pre-grown and protein expression was induced as described in the Materials and Methods section. Both cultures were supplemented with different HGA concentrations ranging from 0 to 5 mM. After 24 h (a) and 36 h (b) post-IPTG addition, OD405 was measured. An ideal separation window between high and low control signals could be observed when a substrate concentration of 2.5 mM HGA was used.
