  1. Pendelluft-20 and pendelluft-25 represent the pendelluft frequency at magnitudes of − 20% and − 25%, respectively. ΔPes: negative deflection of esophageal pressure (Pes) from the onset of inspiratory effort during the ventilatory cycle; ΔPL, tidal change in transpulmonary pressure, calculated as airway pressure (Paw) minus Pes, between the maximum and minimum values of the ventilatory cycle; VT (mL/kg PBW): tidal volume measured in mL/kg of predicted body weight.
