From: Combination of high resolution MRI with 3D-printed needle guides for ex vivo myocardial biopsies
Ex vivo MRI of an extracted pig heart after experimentally induced myocardial infarction with 30 min ischemia followed by 4 h of reperfusion before sacrificing the animals. MPIOs were injected intracoronary 2 h after induction of myocardial infarction. Images were acquired 7 days after fixation with 4% paraformaldehyde. In this example, a microvascular occlusion is seen with no perfusion of MPIOs and increased T1 and T2 values (red arrow).
