Effect of grazing and temperature on H2O2. The evolution of H2O2 in closed-top incubations of (a) U. fenestrata and (b) P. palmata over a period of approximately 9 h under three different conditions: standard (9 °C), acute heat stress at 20 °C, and when exposed to snails at 9 °C (not shown for P. palmata). The last hour of the incubation was in the dark. Incubations were done under 100 μmol m−2 s−1 light. The error bars show the ± 1 SD between biological replicates.
