From: Nrf2-mediated redox balance alleviates LPS-induced vascular endothelial cell inflammation by inhibiting endothelial cell ferroptosis

The mechanisms of the Nrf2-mediated redox balance regulate HUVECs ferroptosis and inflammation. Under the condition of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) treatment, the expression of GPX4 and x-CT decreased, and ferritinophagy increased. Ferroptosis inhibitor Fer-1 improved these damaging effects and ameliorated inflammation of HUVECs. Antioxidant factor Nrf2 negatively regulated ferroptosis in HUVECs. The NOX4/Nrf2 redox balance plays an important role in regulating endothelial cell redox homeostasis and cell survival.
