Study Overview. The present studies investigated the relationship between climate change attitudes and two forms of biased reasoning, as expressed in the directional bias and the absolute bias. In addition, it was tested whether this relationship as well as the degree of biased reasoning are influenced by three dimensions of individual differences: the ability to arrive at a correct interpretation of the presented information (Numeracy), the willingness to show this ability in a given situation (Need for Cognition), and the stable tendency to maximize one’s individual utility (Dark Factor of Personality).
