  1. The interface friction angles for varying scale geometries are quantified by selecting the peak shear stress at the corresponding vertical stress and shearing direction based on the Mohr–Coulomb failure criterion. The correlation coefficient R2 is above 0.98 in all the cases. The dilation angles are measured at 100 kPa vertical stress using Taylor’s flow rule26.
