From: Time-bin entanglement at telecom wavelengths from a hybrid photonic integrated circuit

Transmission measurements of the PolyBoard interposer. The input polarization is set to transversal-electric (TE) and transversal-magnetic (TM) and the transmission is measured at both output paths while the laser wavelength is scanned. The polarizing beam splitter (PBS) predominantly transmits TE-polarized light and reflects TM-polarized light. For both the TE path (a) and the TM path (b), the polarization extinction ratio is calculated as the difference between TE and TM transmission. The spectral dependence of the suppressed polarization is ascribed to chromatic effects in the PBS thin-film layer stack.
