From: Speckle statistics as a tool to distinguish collective behaviors of Zebrafish shoals
Size dependence of statistical quantifiers for shoals with uncorrelated velocity directions: statistical quantifiers \(\langle P\rangle\) (solid line), its standard deviation SD (dashed line), and the ratio \(\langle P\rangle / SD\) (dotted line) from Monte Carlo calculations considering fish shoals with uncorrelated velocity directions. Asymptotic values for \(N=2\) and \(N\gg 1\) are in full agreement with the analytical results. Experimental data from ref.22 for \(\langle P\rangle\) (squares), its standard deviation SD (circles), and the ratio \(\langle P\rangle / SD\) (diamonds) are also included. These data indicate that the experimental setup used in Ref.22 produced shoals with no significant correlation in the fish velocity directions.
