Sickles with narrower blades (width ca. < 3.5 cm) are typically—though with a couple of exceptions—cold-worked (as-cast or as-cast and hammered), while sickles with wider blades (width ca. > 3.5 cm wide) are typically heat-treated (wrought or fully annealed).
