Utilization of D-arabitol substrate and the evolutionary relationship of D-arabitol dehydrogenase. (A) Growth curves of strain PD-1 with D-glucose, D-xylitol, D-xylose, D-arabitol, D-arabinose, and L-arabinose in M9 minimal medium. (B) Minimum evolution phylogenetic tree of D-arabitol dehydrogenases (DalD) in strain PD-1 and closely related strains. The optimal tree is shown with more than 90% of 1000 replicate trees in the bootstrap test and drawn to scale, as the units of the number of amino acid substitutions per site, computed using the Dayhoff matrix based method in MEGA X. There was a total of 455 positions in the final dataset of 35 amino acid sequences aligned using MAFFT with BLOSUM62 matrix.
