miR-17-5p inhibited VSMC calcification. (A, B) Transfection of miR-17-5p inhibits calcium deposition. VSMCs were incubated with calcification medium in the presence of miR-17-5p mimic or control mimic. Calcium deposition was determined by Alizarin Red S staining at 7 days, demonstrating the effect of miR-17-5p on VSMC calcification (A). Quantification was also performed by measuring the absorbance at a wavelength of 570 nm by a spectrophotometer (B) (N = 6). (C) Runx2, PAI-1, and TGF-β RII expression levels were measured by RT‒PCR. GAPDH was used as the endogenous control (N = 6). The P value was calculated by unpaired Student’s t test, and the data are presented as the mean ± SEM.
