Dimensions and boundary conditions for the FE model of wave propagation. (a) The uniaxial pre-stretch is generated using displacement boundary conditions. (b) The stretch beyond the natural pre-stretch is generated using a typical 60 cc rectangular expander geometry. (c) The skin is held in this stretched configuration to promote growth. (d) The wave is generated by a 0.5 MPa pressure applied for \(2 \times 10^{-5}\) s. The normal displacement of a node 5 mm away from the impact site was stored for analysis.
