A 69-year-old woman with fibroadenoma confirmed via core needle biopsy. (a,b) Full-field digital mammography shows a mass in the lower inner quadrant of the left breast; however, the margin of the mass is partially obscured, requiring further evaluation. (c) Conventional spot compression view shows a high density mass with an indistinct margin, categorized as Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) 4B. (d) The spot compression tomosynthesis image shows an associated benign feature, the “Halo sign” (arrow), which is a low-density ring of compressed adipose tissue around the lesion. The mass was categorized as BI-RADS 3.
