The 3D reconstructions are color‐coded, according to the distinct stage of cartilaginous development: “Light gray” indicates mesenchymal Anlagen; “light blue” indicates that condensed precartilaginous cell clusters containing chondroblasts, “dark blue” indicates a differentiated e cartilage with chondrocytes surrounded by cytoplasm and bordered by a distinct perichondrium. Sizes were adjusted.
