Eighteen healthy adult Beagle dogs were fed a commercial diet (Royal Canin® Beagle Adult dry food) once in the morning, around 9 a.m. The portion size for each dog was calculated based on weight and resting energy requirements (RER). Information was provided on the food manufacturer’s website (https://www.royalcanin.com/my/dogs/products/retail-products/beagle-adult-2106#). This diet contains 3463 kilocalories of metabolizable energy (ME) per kilogram or 284 kilocalories of ME per cup on an as-fed basis (calculated).
