  1. Eighteen healthy adult Beagle dogs were fed a high-fat, high-monosaccharide, low-fiber Western diet (WD) adjusted from parameters of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for a period of ten weeks. The dogs were provided with isocaloric feedings based on their individually calculated metabolizable energy. The diets were home cooked and offered to the dogs once daily in the morning, typically around 9 a.m.
