The complex weak values in polar coordinates \({\langle {{\hat{\Pi }}_j}\rangle }_\textrm{w}=A_j\,\textrm{e}^{\textrm{i}\varphi _j}\). They are given through (a) the absolute value \(A_j\) and (b) the phase \(\varphi _j\) dependent on the interferometric phase shift \(\chi\) with theoretical predictions. In (a) and (b), the dashed frame is magnified on the bottom. Error bars indicate one standard deviation and include the systematic errors. Solid curves are the theoretical predictions in the limit of the spin rotation angle \(\alpha \ll 1\). Dashed curves indicate the expected behaviour of the linear data analysis used with the applied finite spin rotation angle \(\alpha =\pi /9\). Where the solid and dashed lines separate, the linear approximation in \(\alpha\) of Eq. (9) does not hold anymore.
