From: Accelerated ensemble optimization using momentum methods

The NPV as a function of the number of simulations for the Egg model without geological uncertainty. Each column corresponds to a given momentum method, while each row contains the results for a given value of \(\beta\). Each panel contains ten optimization runs, each with a different random seed. The run with the highest final NPV is shown with a dashed line. Meanwhile, the dotted line shows the result from a one-sided finite difference approximation. The best and average final NPV in each panel is depicted in a textbox. Note that for Momentum and Nesterov, setting \(\beta =0\) yields the standard gradient descent method.
