Framework of the experimental procedure. During the incidental encoding phase, the participants either witnessed or interacted with 30 specific events of various emotional valences that they subsequently tried to recall (free recall) and rated on several subjective scales (all events rated at the end of the encoding phase and at the end of the one-month session; only freely recalled events rated at the end of the one-week recall). They did a second free recall a week later and the last one a month after encoding.
