The deviance is expressed relative to a baseline corresponding to the prediction accuracy of a zero-weight ACI (black dotted line). Therefore, negative deviance values indicate an improvement in prediction accuracy, compared to chance. The red dots correspond to the mean between-subject deviance. This value is obtained by predicting each participant’s data using the ACIs of the 6 other participants in the same condition.
