From: Enabling additive manufacturing part inspection of digital twins via collaborative virtual reality

Overview of the workflow includes several components of the additive manufacturing and virtual inspection of digital twins (left to right). It starts with data acquisition aimed to collect multimodal data from the manufacturing process ranging from 3D design models to machine data and X-ray CT scans after the curing process. Data processing involves the process of collection and integration of multimodal data, while data storage and management aim to store and manage large-scale volumetric data, including filtering, querying, and subspacing. Model and simulation building refers to the virtual environment as well as the communication interface to connect the simulation with the data. Finally, virtual simulation and interactive interface are components developed to support and enable users to quickly inspect data collected from the printing process in an immersive and collaborative environment.
