Presence of severe NPDR findings. The diagnostic criteria for severe NPDR were: (A) Twenty intraretinal hemorrhages in each of the four quadrants: (B) Definite venous beading in two quadrants. (C) Prominent intraretinal microvascular abnormalities (IRMA) in 1 + quadrant cross tables and fundus photographs of representative cases. The detection sensitivity for any lesion in the enhanced image is high, and the image is bright and clear in the periphery as well as in the center of the image.
