Fig. 3

ES-PMMA bone cement modulates the expression of pro/anti-inflammatory factors in co-culture by releasing enoxaparin sodium. In the co-culture system, inflammatory factors were determined by Western Blotting and GAPDH was used as an internal reference. The expression of IL-6, TNF-α, and ICAM was up-regulated in the LPS-induced group compared with the blank control group (***P < 0.001); the expression of all three proteins was down-regulated in the ES-PMMA + LPS group compared with the LPS-induced and PMMA + LPS groups (*P < 0.05 or **P < 0.01); the expression of IL-10 was down-regulated in the LPS-induced group compared with the blank control group (***P < 0.001), while IL-10 protein expression was up-regulated in ES-PMMA + LPS group compared with LPS-induced and PMMA + LPS groups (***P < 0.001).ES-PMMA had a significant advantage in regulating inflammatory protein expression.
