Data are based on the Global Ocean Physics Reanalysis (GLORYS) reanalysis dataset. The monthly-averaged GLORYS sub-surface temperature data were interpolated across time (y-axis) and latitude (x-axis). Temperature anomalies are with respect to the 1993–2021 long-term mean. The black arrow indicates the direction of propagation of warm temperature anomalies through time.
