Military and Security Factors: Military operations in the area, years of military operations, and homicide rate. Geographic and Environmental Factors: Rural indicator, soil quality, altitude, water availability, and dummy for each State. Political and Institutional Factors: Alignment of local government with presidential party, and governor’s alignment with the president. Year: Captures temporal variations and trends over the study period.
