This figure illustrates the key elements necessary for effective messaging during emergencies, as identified from responses to the interview question: “From your experience, what is essential for a message to contain or have to achieve trust and compliance in an emergency?” Based on feedback from first responders, we categorised these elements into three groups: `Channel 1: communication between the rescuers and the rescued', `Channel 2: communication among the rescuers)', and `Both'.
