Time-latitude Hovmoller diagram of mean 2003-2015 daily SABB aerosol-induced surface shortwave radiation anomaly (color contours), and SST anomaly (solid contours). Anomalies are zonally averaged over 10°W–10°E (corresponding to Fig. 1, Region B) and are calculated from the AERSLAB experiment perturbed and control runs. The SST cooling response in the SEA is delayed by about 2 months compared to the peak of surface shortwave negative anomaly.
