Aerosol extinction coefficient profiles during the period 24 March to 31 May at 550 nm retrieved using Cloud-Aerosol Lidar with Orthogonal Polarization (CALIOP) onboard CALIPSO and weighted by the AOD for the corresponding period for the months March, April, and May over SA and MCOH are shown in panels (a–f), respectively. Panels a–c represent profiles over SA and panels d–f represent profiles over MCOH. The solid red lines and black lines represent the extinction coefficient profiles during the periods 2020 and 2007–2019, respectively. The shaded portion represents the standard error of the measurements. The solid blue lines in each panel show the relative change in extinction coefficient.
