Schizophrenia (SCZ) and bipolar disorder (BP) affect around 1% of the population and share clinical and neuropathological similarities. A study in Cell Reports analyzing the proteome of synapses purified from the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) of patients with SCZ and BP found pronounced and similar molecular changes, suggesting common molecular pathomechanisms between these disorders.
